Fire Training: One department fire trainings was held this month. This was also a joint training with the EMS division on "firefighter down" scenarios. Crews worked together preforming Engine and Truck company operations on a simulated house fire with downed firefighters. Fire crews worked on removing downed firefighter from the building and to waiting EMS and where their turnout gear and SCBA was removed so EMS could begin medical care.

EMS Training: This month we had two EMS training opportunities. This first being the joint one with the fire division and the second was on Mass Casualty Incident Triage. This clas was taught by Dr DuPont of Penn Medicine. Dr. Du Pont is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Additionally, Dr. Du Pont is a Medical Command & Emergency Dept Physician at Pennsylvania Hospital. He is serving as a Pre-Hospital Physician here at Lancaster General Hospital on Penn Med-1.

Community Events: October was also a very busy month for the department with community events. The EMS division handled several standbys for the Pequea Valley High School Football games, we hosted our annual fire prevention event for local homeschool and Amish school classes and finished the month with the annual Paradise Township Trunk or Treat.
