| 🚑 Pequea Valley Fire Department Welcomes New Medical Director 🚑
Pequea Valley Fire Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Tyler McCardell, MD as our new Medical Director. Dr. McCardell serves as an EMS Physician and Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine with Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health. In his role, he provides county-wide physician field response through the Penn-Med-1 program, coordinates prehospital education, and serves as a Medical Director for select EMS agencies in Lancaster County.
A graduate of Solanco High School, where he served as Class President and Co-Valedictorian, Dr. McCardell went on to earn dual bachelor's degrees from Duquesne University before completing medical school at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at Allegheny General Hospital, serving as Chief Resident and Assistant Medical Director for AHN LifeFlight, and later completed an EMS Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. McCardell brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion for EMS education and prehospital medicine. We are excited to have him join the Pequea Valley Fire Department team and look forward to the guidance and support he will provide to our EMS providers and the communities we serve.
We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Michael Reihart for his years of dedicated service as our Medical Director. Dr. Reihart has been an invaluable partner, advocate, and mentor to our organization. As he transitions into a new position that takes him outside of our area, we thank him for his commitment to Pequea Valley Fire Department and wish him the very best in this next chapter of his career.
